Internet Marketing Doesn't Have To Be Hard, Read This

By Doris John

Selling a product is just like selling a website, and both are just like selling a personality. No matter what you're selling online, be it your expertise or your company's product, you have to amass a library of techniques which are successful. Here are some ideas we've used ourselves which can get you started or diversify your strategies.

Before you start marketing online, you first need to brainstorm a variety of methods you may want to implement. Excellent sources of advertising your site include blog promotion, posting to them, and hanging around all the social networking sites. You can attract people to your site in many ways. Creativity is key when trying to gain customers.

Buy a domain and hosting. A lot of internet marketers try to stick with selling their products and services on free platforms, but the problem is that they do not own their own sites--if there is a problem they can lose their entire web presence. To avoid this, buy a domain of your choice and a hosting package.

Join the visual world. Video marketing has been shown to increase sales, because you are giving a more personal review of the product, and sometimes even allowing your readers to see a product in use. This tactic not only increases sales, but also readership. It gives your audience a chance to see the person behind the words.

Socialize! When posting new media, you want as many people to see and talk about it as possible. Post about it on social media sites, and ask others to do the same. The more fresh eyes see your site, the better chances you have of people mentioning it, which can help place you higher on the search lists.

Bring your customer to you. Use your website to post events happening in your store, be they workshops, training, or just store-only sales. Getting a customer into your store makes them much more likely to buy from you, and providing this information on your site can increase the amount of people in attendance.

If you're just starting out with internet marketing, ask yourself a few simple questions before building a website for your business. Who is your target audience, and what do you think they'll expect from your website? If you keep a sense of direction in mind, you'll be more likely to build a site that keeps customers coming back.

Pay attention to the design of your website. Use attractive colors and a menu that is easy to navigate. Visitors will spend more time on a website with nice colors and an original design. They are also more likely to remember your website and come back to it later. Make sure your menu is clear so that people can find what they want without getting frustrated.

Using a double opt-in method for your email marketing lists ensures that you are reaching those customers who are truly interested in your produt. While a double opt-in procedure seems like a barrier to creating a marketing list, it does mean that everyone on your list was willing to follow at least one link back to your site.

If you have a lot of information about your leads, use that information to customize your marketing copy. For instance, if you know that a visitor to your site has bought a widget in the past, you might customize some of the homepage content to show similar widgets. Be aware, however, that some users actively take measures to prevent tracking in this way.

Stop making your banner advertisements look like you're just directing attention to something. By designing appealing banners, you can increase the click thru rate and get more visitors to your website. Banners that contain a trivia question related to your website's niche can be effective, as viewers will click them to find out the answer on your website.
