Preparing For The UPSC Or The IAS Exams

Everyone looking for the tips of becoming a IAS, already have some knowledge about what is civil service examinations, it is one of the most difficult examination that is important to clear in order to become an IAS, IRS, IFS and many other respected officer cadres in India.

The examination of the Civil Service comprise of two very important stages, the Preliminary stage and the Mains Stage. The civil preliminary examination has objective type questions which are conducted for the selection of the candidates for the Main exams. The Civil services mains examination includes the written examination, which is then followed by the personality interview for the selection of the candidates for various posts.

The patterns for the Civil Service examination have been changed since 2011, so in place of preliminary, the CSAT examinations are conducted by UPSC. Individuals that get through this level are considered to be eligible for the Civil Services mains examination. This is later on followed by the interview.

The most important thing that you need to remember is that you have to go through three levels of civil service exams, the preliminary exam, the mains exam and the personal interview round. The total duration for the completion of the examination is one year. You must never get discouraged if you are not able to clear for the first year as there are several others who clear the exam after few attempts. Once you have mastered all the subjects that you are going to appear and have also appeared for the first level of civil services examination at least, then you can work or prepare for other exams too.

Being precise the civil service stages of examination includes the Preliminary examination as the first stage for the selection of the candidates for the mains examination, the Mains examination for the selection of the candidate for the Interview and lastly the Personality Interview test.

Having a good study plan is the most important thing that you need to keep in mind. With the pattern changes and the introduction of CSAT, you need to make sure that you complete most of your exam portion of the Mains before January and then all your focus must be on the CSAT.

This is important because you will be needed to have in-depth knowledge about the subject and bring it out when needed accordingly to answer the questions; this is why you must have the passion for the subject. Once you have gained all the knowledge about the subject then getting marks shall become very easier for you.

Candidates that have professional or technical qualifications recognized by the government as equivalent as the degrees are eligible for the exams too. You must also ensure that you are mentally ready for the attempts to crack the civil service exams, it is tough to crack in the first round itself and even though you qualify you can look to achieve better ranking to improve your service allotment.
