Important Circumstances Occurred On The Battle Of Marathon

It is for a fact that a battle can create ultimate turmoil and horrible experiences to survivors. Some memories might make go crazy. Aside from mental damages, wreckage and other spoils of wars might evidently be seen. Truly, wars have brought devastating effects to conflicting countries.

Several decades ago, different civilizations engage in wars. Among the highly remembered and significant event on the History of Mankind was the Battle of Marathon. Its a major battle between Persians and the city states of Greek. The victory was with the Greeks. There were lots of happenings and events which took place during that time. It was during the period of the Great Darius that different revolts happened. Ionia was included in it. This place was eventually settled by the Greeks. During Ionian Rebellion, Athens provided some small assistance to many rebels. Lots of significant events occurred which took the Persian Army to deploy some of their units to completely stop the rebellion along the way.

There was a moment in which some Persian generals including the Emperor, Darius, was angry because Greeks sided on rebels. Even though the aid was only minor, the Persian still invaded the mainland Greece to have a vengeance because of their help. Numerous recorded events also occurred and devastatingly caused horrible experiences and higher death toll on both sides.

The Athenians were able to blocked and halted Persians by sealing and trapping them. When the armies completely blocked the path of Persians, it was Greek leader called as General Miltiades who sent runners to both the Plataea and Sparta to seek for help. This became the now famous term for marathon runners. At that certain time, Spartans were celebrating, but they still offered some help.

This battle has a recorded history that it occurred around 490 BC. This was the first attempt of Persian invasion to Greece. Together with Plataea, the citizens of Athens, fought the overwhelming enemies. Such battle was made due to the great desire of King Darius I to completely subjugate Greece. Greeks were able to defeat their enemies and eventually lead to Greco Persian wars.

It was morning of September 17, 490 when Greeks firmly stood on plain of Marathon ready fight until death. Behind them were all they loved so much including their families, homes and more importantly, their city. Right in front of them were their sworn enemies. An invisible army with heinous purpose and were seem prepared to ravage and completely destroy everything.

Different events happened which plagued and ultimately cause numerous nightmares to the involved parties. It goes without saying that the casualties are high. Many people meet their demise. Properties also experienced wreckage. Once you get to know more about this, read some books.
